JASON CHETCUTI F.ROCKS UP
Rock ‘n’ Roll designer to showcase pieces at Northern Beaches fashion parade
Event organisers for F.ROCK today announced that young punk designer Jason Chetcuti is throwing his support behind the hot new fashion parade event happening in September, and with Chetcuti now on board it’s expected to really fffffff-rock the house.
Formed as part of the Manly Arts Festival, F.ROCK is being held over two nights, 15 and 16 September at Stage One, The Steyne on Manly Corso, and will showcase 16 young local fashion designers ranging from high fashion, vintage couture and streetwear to hats, swimwear and jewellery. Chetcuti will now also be featured within the parade.
Renowned for his flamboyant style and use of internationally sourced vintage inspired fibres, Chetcuti is quickly rising up the ranks of the fashion world. The energetic 25 year-old turned down an internship at Christian Dior to concentrate on his designs and with a boutique store already on Sydney’s Crown Street and a recent appearance on SBS’s Fashionista it won’t be long before he’s a household name.
“It’s great to see an initiative like F.ROCK enabling young and seriously talented designers to showcase their work, especially in an area not known for fashion,” says Chetcuti. “It’s going to blow everyone away!”
According to Helen Sattler, F.ROCK founder and fashion designer for vintage couture label Boutio, it’s time to create an awareness of the growing Northern Beaches fashion industry.
“Despite brands such as Tsubi and One Teaspoon starting out on the Northern Beaches, a lot of people don’t associate the area with fashion like they do Bondi and other beach suburbs. F.ROCK is going to break down those misconceptions by thrusting some hot new talent under the spotlight and we plan to make it an annual event so that more up-and-coming local designers can be exposed,” says Sattler.
Other labels being launched at F.ROCK include Clintoncharlie by 88 ounces (high women’s fashion), my-ti (stylish visor hats), Kelly Love (casual/glam women’s wear), Seawolfe (swimwear), Kornerd (men’s streetwear), Pjinc (evening lingerie), Artsu (streetwear), Suzy O’Rourke (millinery), Don’t Go Naked (glam women’s wear), Andesn Designs (streetwear), Nikki Angicas (women’s wear), Natalie James Designs (women’s wear), Pippa May (women’s wear), Sarah Wood Designs (classy evening/day wear) and Phoebe Jane Jewellery Designs (jewellery).
